The world of Teyvat has received a breathtaking update as the highly anticipated Genshin Impact Version 4.0 update has dropped! The Adventure Continues!
With version 4.0 comes some big changes to the game, the first one being, the new playable region Fontaine. The official description from HoYoverse describes Fontaine as a water-surrounded region that “offers a one-of-a-kind underwater adventure in some of its areas.” with this new playable region comes a new swimming mechanic,letting players swim and dive underwater. To obtain this new swimming mechanic you must first interact with the first Statue of the Seven that is accessible in Fontaine to receive Fontaine’s Blessing. Once you have done this you can head to one of several diving areas located around Fontain.
New Genshin Impact Characters
Not only is there a new region but there are also 3 new playable characters for players to get to grips with.
Lyney
Lyney is the first of the sibling trio to be added to the game. Detailed by HoYoverse as “(Lyney) the eldest, is a famous magician in Fontaine. Lynette
The next sibling to be added to the roster is Lynette. Detailed by HoYoverse as “a four-star Anemo character who wields a sword. Freminet
Finally Freminet is the sibling that completes the new trio. Detailed by HoYoverse as “an exceptional diver debuting as a four-star Claymore user, with expertise in wielding the fully-pressurized Pers to launch Cryo and Physical attacks.” Check out some gameplay footage of Fremine below.
Genshin Impact Graphics Update
The 4.0 update brought us a new region and characters it also brought a new graphics features. HoYoverse stated “A series of new functions and features will be introduced to provide a better gaming experience. Global Illumination (GI), motion sensor support (Gyroscope) and faster loading on the PlayStation consoles will further improve the graphics, the controls, and enhance the immersive experience by capitalizing on the sense of time and space. Other optimizations include the multi-layered map and the new Party Setup backgrounds and animations intended to provide players with practical and interesting details in their adventures.” but what does Global Illumination mean for Genshin players? Well, Global Illumination is an advanced graphics technology that brings a new level of realism and atmosphere to the game’s visuals by enhancing lighting effects, shadows, and overall scene illumination bring an whole new immersion to the players.
Genshin Impact Version 4.0 Release date
Genshin Impact Version 4.0 Phase 1 will run from August 16, 2023, to September 5, 2023, and then Phase 2 will begin shortly after. Fontaine Update Is Now Available on iOS, Android, PS5, PS4, and PC.
